The African American Male: What Must We Do To Save Him?
We must find solutions to the dilemma facing the African American Male that is making him an “Endangered Species”. What is that dilemma? First, it is the lack of understanding of what it is and means to be responsible and accountable; and secondly, it is the lack of “Life Preparation” education” that encourages the pursuit and acquiring of marketable job skills. Many Black males are ill-prepared for a successful life in the global market place. Programs must be implemented that will aid in preparing black males to function and participate in a global society and economy. We need focused programs that will prepare them to become productive and viable members of society during their formative years. The lack of education, higher education, skill trades, or technical skills has severely limited many black males from being able to provide for themselves or their families, a quality life via legal means. Criminal activity and pursuits become viable options to them, further exasperating the problem. How do we arrest and change the mind set of many black males which allows them to consider criminal activity as an acceptable vehicle to obtaining financial gain? We do that by equipping them with the tools necessary to succeed in life. We do it by teaching the absolute “Positive Value” of being a responsible person. Our goal is to assist urban males in the pursuit of the possibilities that education affords and the doors of opportunity that it can open, we can then Leverage Their Today, Against The Potential of Their Tomorrow in every phase of life. “Hope, with the possibility of being a success, seen as achievable versus Life without the possibility of parole!”
